The world-famous Pernod brand is back in the absinthe business! Pernod was one of the first absinthe distillers in the world. The absinthe prohibition following World War I forced them to halt production for many years. The last decade, however, brought change to the antiquated law, and Pernod is once again ready with its great original absinthe recipe.
Pernod is a high-class absinthe, traditionally crafted according to the original recipe. Its exclusivity in the absinthe world almost goes without saying. The Pernod won the Silver Absinthe Spoon Award at the 2002 Absinthiades in Pontarlier. This is what Maxim Magazine said about Pernod in August 2003:
Effect:
Released a torrent of free-flowing lyrical thoughts and deepened colors to the point where everything almost looked CGI.
Taste:
Spicy to start, but finishes smooth, like sweetened iced tea. Careful or it’ll taste like candied digestive fluid on the way back up.
Overall rating:
Five hacked-off ears.
(The highest possible score, with the scale apparently in honor of the late Vincent Van Gogh).
